Britt’s SportMod Nationals is Anderson’s for Third Time!

Eddyville, Iowa’s Logan Anderson has been to the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, IA exactly three times, each during the tracks annual Gold-Eagle Cooperative IMCA Northern SportMod Nationals. On Monday night he ran down leader Colby Fett in the closing laps to score his third SportMod Nationals victory in as many tries. Jared Boumeester led the first few circuits before Justin Klynsma and Jake Sachau took over first and second. Contact between the two resulted in a caution with both drivers retiring from the event. In the late stages Colby Fett built a sizeable lead before Anderson ran him down for the win. Alec Fett finished third, Cam Reimers raced from 12th to fourth and Matt Looft completed the top five.
In the IMCA Modifieds, Drew Janssen was in control of the main until his engine expired and the resulting oil on the track necessitated a caution. When the race resumed, Kyle Heckman was the leader and he survived a couple of cautions to best a great battle between Jeremy Mills, Tim Ward, and Kelly Shryock, who completed the top four.
Troy Swearingen got a fast start to his 33rd year in racing Monday. The long-time IMCA Stock Car competitor was fast all night and held off Heath Tulp, Aaron Johnson and Dylan Thornton.
Brandon Nielsen backed up his season-opening win at Britt with another IMCA Hobby Stock victory, winning this time over Drew Barglof, Eric Knutson, and Chris Krug.
Kolby Goepel had to sit out the season opener in the HCS Outlaw Hobby Stocks but made up for lost time on Monday, earning his first win of the season at the track. He bested Joshua Monson, Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy True.
Weekly racing action returns to the Hancock County Speedway on Friday, May 17th with hot laps starting at 7pm.
